LAVONIA NELSON

“Earning money has never been my sole motivator... If the fruits of my labor don’t help or provide something for the people, I’m not interested.”

— Lavonia Nelson, Executive Producer, I Am Glory

Lavonia Nelson is a dynamic visionary whose work is rooted in purpose, authenticity, and a deep spiritual calling. Her vast professional experience, rich personal journey, and unshakable faith have shaped a career centered on truth-telling, impact, and elevating underserved voices.

As the Executive Producer of the powerful four-part docuseries I Am Glory, Lavonia brings raw human experience to the forefront—unfiltered and divine. This groundbreaking series explores the spiritual journeys of men and women from all walks of life through four sacred lenses: the Spirit, the Soul, the Flesh, and the Glory. Featuring cinematic reenactments, emotional interviews, and vivid storytelling, I Am Glory reveals how ordinary people encounter God in extraordinary ways.

Lavonia’s entry into film began behind the scenes—as an investor and a connector of talent, resources, and ideas. After witnessing the transformation and impact of the stories she helped bring to life, she stepped into the spotlight herself to create something both personal and prophetic.

“I’m not a church person—I’m God’s people and that’s it. I don’t do church folk. I do God’s folk. There’s a big difference.”
— Lavonia Nelson, I Am Glory

Her spiritual roots run deep. Raised alongside seven siblings—including her fraternal twin—Lavonia was born into ministry. Her mother’s firebrand evangelism often placed them at odds with traditional church doctrine, even leading to public rejection. But from the backseat of a cramped car traveling cross-country, Lavonia supported her mother’s ministry with fierce devotion—booking engagements, securing fair compensation, and protecting a call that could not be silenced. These experiences, both beautiful and brutal, shape Lavonia’s honest lens on religion and faith—an exploration that lies at the heart of I Am Glory.

Lavonia is also the Founder and Executive Director of Tiny Babies Foundation, which has served over 2,000 families since 2008. Through thoughtful programming focused on educating parents about the life-saving power of breast milk, Lavonia and her team—including board member U.S. Senator Donzella James—have created partnerships nationwide to support infant and maternal health.

Her professional résumé includes a remarkable real estate career, earning over $20 million in sales. As a mortgage broker of 15+ years, she’s helped thousands—especially first-time minority buyers—achieve homeownership.

Lavonia is also a published co-author alongside legendary motivational speaker Les Brown, contributing her voice to a powerful anthology that uplifts and inspires readers through testimonies of resilience, purpose, and faith.

A proud mother and serial entrepreneur, Lavonia draws inspiration from her late mother’s independence and grit. She has intentionally raised her children to be business-minded and socially conscious, leading them to launch four businesses before the age of 18—including a thriving streetwear and lifestyle brand.

She is also the author of the children’s book "Growing Up with Javoni", a heartfelt tribute to her daughter and son, available through Trafford Publishing on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and major online retailers.
